Our ResponsAbility
documentary verbatim performance
written and directed by Vitalii Havura
This play is based on interviews with people from different regions of Ukraine. These are the stories of workers who are essential to Ukraine’s infrastructure—people who remained at their jobs and risked their lives to keep working.
A young girl who worked in a store, whose grandfather died in her arms after a rocket strike (Volnovakha);
a surgeon who operated under shelling without light or heat (Chernihiv);
a train conductor who evacuated thousands of people from frontline cities (Kramatorsk);
a teacher who cares for wounded soldiers (Dnipro).
They speak the truth verbatim. The heroes of these stories do not complain about life; instead, they reflect on their personal responsibility for what has happened. Through these interviews, people shared their thoughts and emotions so that actors could embody their stories on stage.
I performed alongside Kateryna Hordiienko, Alina Zievakova, and Daniil Prymachov, playing the violin and portraying Olena, a teacher from Dnipro.
